About Thrumjoy and The Flash Runner
Thrumjoy is a small, independent project run by Riley Evans in Putney, New South Wales. It started as a notebook of short reviews of coin and mining games, and it now hosts one original game: The Flash Runner: Blockchain Escape.
Why a courier
Most games about coins are about piling them up. This one is about carrying a single coin through a city that is trying to stop you. The Data Coin is a parcel, not money, and the whole game is the trip.
How it was made
Everything you see and hear is made in code: the city, the courier, the soundtrack and the effects. There are no image files or sound files inside the game. The road is built from 20 hand-made pieces, and a small test script plays every one of them at the slowest and fastest speed before it is allowed into the game.
What the site does not do
There are no adverts, no accounts, no in-game purchases and no prizes. The game does not send your score anywhere. Your records stay in your own browser.
Mistakes and fixes
If a piece of road feels unfair or something breaks on your device, the contact page has one email address and a postal address. Bug reports are the most useful thing you can send.
